Neil Inwood:
Apollo Minerals is very excited to announce the results today of our regional exploration at the Salanie Gold Project.
As a background, Salanie is an Archaean greenstone belt, very similar to the style we have in Western Australia, which hosts major gold deposits.
It was a historical gold mine from the 1940s to the 1950s. They were mining at on average 20 grams per tonne. And nobody has done the exploration here for over 70 years.
We acquired the project through pegging, and we own the project 100%. And field results to date have been quite incredible. Previously we announced results up to 430 grams per ton gold in rock chips.
And we’ve just announced trenching results. And those trenching results are indicating 10 meters at three and a half grams per tonne, including 2 meters at 17 grams a tonne, and another zone of one and a half meters at about 15 grams a tonne.
And all this we’re looking at a strong sheared quartz system with visible gold throughout a 20 meters width. This is quite incredible because we’re seeing visible gold in quartz veining at surface in a historical high grade gold mine region.
We’ve got multiple exposures of this and this one system at A1, which we announced today goes for over 250 meters. We’ve mapped it out from historical trenches, and we’ve already got high grade rock chips from our previous work. So we’re working up this system and we’re very keen to be exploring and drilling early next year.
I’ve just returned from Gabon from an extensive field visit, had very productive meetings with Government, and was very encouraged to see that other businesses are coming strongly into Gabon, and particularly in the mining industry. So I’m convinced that Gabon is the right place to be operating right now.
The next steps for the Salanie Gold project, including reestablishing road access, which will be very quick, will do trenching to further define additional targets to the existing A1 prospect and the P6. Additionally, we want to open up trenching around the historical A3 pitting, where we understand there was significantly more mineralized veining.
And we want to start drilling as quickly as possible. We have two defined targets straight away ready to be drilled, and we’re quite convinced there’ll be multiple more coming through very quickly for us.
We see 2024 as being a watershed moment for the Salanie Gold Project and Apollo Minerals is very excited.
