Looking forward to the RIU Sydney Resources Round-up next week

05.05.2023

Next week, over 1,500 delegates will meet in Sydney for the annual RIU Sydney Resources Round-up conference. The three-day conference attracts a mixture of corporates, brokers, fund managers and retail investors, keen to discover the next Pilbara, De Grey or Gold Road.

90 companies with a combined market capitalisation of $11.3 billion will be presenting their stories during the day, with plenty of associated breakfasts, dinners and parties to further spread the message.

In terms of market cap range, there is something for everyone, with companies ranging in size from $2 million to $2.5 billion. Twenty-two of the presenters have a market cap of >$100 million, demonstrating the appeal of the conference to institutional investors.

Battery minerals companies dominate the agenda, as demand for EVs increases demand for lithium, graphite, copper, manganese and a range of other commodities. Rare earths, used in permanent magnets required by most EV electric motors, also feature amongst the presenters.

Following opening remarks by Jaxon Crabb from Vertical Events, the keynote presentation will be from Tim Bunney and Michael Scantlebury from Euroz Hartleys. It is expected that the keynote will feature statistics that highlight the resources might of Australia as well as insights on where future opportunities or headwinds might be.

David Royle, a senior consultant with commodities advisory firm, CRU, will give a talk on Day 1 titled ‘Critical Minerals – The Next Big Thing for Australia’, no doubt highlighting the opportunities for Australian resources companies to expand lithium production but also become world leaders in other minerals such as rare earths, manganese, silica and hydrogen.

On Day 2, Rob Murdoch from Austex Resources will give a rundown of the winners and losers for the year to date as well as providing investors with his thoughts on what commodities and sectors might be worth considering for the remainder of the year.

A new feature of the Round Up this year is the partnership with Precious Metals Summit Conferences for the organisation of 1-on-1 meetings between corporates and investors in a specially designated area of the conference. These meetings offer the opportunity for more detailed discussions than can normally be had meeting at the exhibition booth.

On Thursday, Socialsuite, an ESG reporting and management platform, will be hosting an ‘ESG Essentials’ session, providing valuable insights on leveraging sustainability for organisational success.

As a Media Partner for the RIU Sydney Resources Round Up, White Noise Communications will have a large contingent on the ground, providing support to the organisers, sponsors and our participating clients.
