This week, the Noosa Mining Investor Conference returned to Queensland’s glittering Sunshine Coast. With the lure of winter sun, the laid-back resort town transformed into a hive of capital markets chatter with a packed program of ASX-listed resource companies at the event. Company Directors, analysts and investors alike bask in early beach mornings before heading up the hill to Peppers Noosa Resort to trade surf reports along with stock tips, and White Noise was around to report on the action.
From the moment delegates start arriving in Noosa, there is a sense that this conference is as much about the setting as it is about the Companies. It doesn’t take long to settle into the vibe of early morning strolls along the boardwalk, ocean swims and espressos by the beach before making the uphill trek, or chauffeured golf buggy ride (it’s fun until your friends find out), to the conference venue. For those staying along the prominent Hastings Street, the subtle humidity on day one meant taking the hill on foot was a little more effort than anticipated, leaving those wearing suit jackets in added discomfort.
Once inside, the energy levels were apparent with delegates entering the exhibition area earlier than expected and the auditorium often standing room only. From the first session, there were back-to-back presentations with a healthy mix of companies ranging from early-stage explorers to near-term developers and producers.
The event flows with a resort-style pace and, despite the occasionally unpredictable speakers’ controller, the delivery of presentations was all business. In addition to exhibiters, there were also plenty of delegate-only attendees moving around the exhibition area, networking and sharing their Company stories.
But Noosa doesn’t just host the conference, it provides an experience and the town accommodation, hospitality venues and beach all handle it with ease. Flowing on from the formal program, several sponsored networking events provided additional opportunities for networking. Broker backed networking drinks and corporate dinners at beachfront restaurants were all humming.
The weather really turned on for day two with a clear blue sky, non-existent humidity and a calm ocean for the early-bird swimmers. The conference atmosphere could be heard as you approached the venue with the exhibition area and auditorium packed again for a full day of presentations. After the conference, the evening’s networking drinks at the Noosa Surf Club delivered the perfect trifecta of sea breeze, drinks, and a beach backdrop worthy of an Instagram post before attendees dispersed into the night or nightlife.
Over the three days, some 70 companies give presentations. As the final sessions wrap up today, closing early this afternoon to allow for Friday flights home or perhaps one last stroll down Hastings Street, there’s no doubt the 2025 edition has lived up to its reputation. There’s no mystery why this event is so well attended, it’s simply a pleasant environment to rub shoulders with a diversified range of resource companies, brush up on the latest industry activities and look for the next compelling investment opportunity.
